-
DisplayPort is a digital video and audio transmission standard that supports high resolution glossy, high refresh rate and high color depth displays.
-
DisplayPort source can transmit video and audio signals to the receiver over a single cable.
-
HDMI is a digital audio video interface commonly used to connect TVs, monitors and other multimedia devices.
-
The HDMI interface can simultaneously transmit video and audio signals that support high-definition video and multi-channel audio.
-
Although both DisplayPort and HDMI are digital interfaces, there are differences in physical connections and signal transmission.
-
The HDMI signal can be converted into an HDMI signal via an adapter or converter for connection to HDMI devices.
-
However, the HDMI signal cannot be directly converted to a DisplayPort signal because the HDMI interface does not provide some of the functions and protocols required by the DisplayPort.
-
Therefore, DP HDMI adapters or converters can only provide unidirectional transmission from the DisplayPort source to the HDMI receiver.
