Pot diameter 12 cm plant length 15-25 cm excluding pot. Calathea (Prayer Flower) Care: The prayer flower is a species of the family Marantaceae in the genus Maranta. Often known as Calathea (Caladia). However, this plant, which is scientifically referred to as Maranta, takes its name from the Italian botanist Bartolomeo Maranta. The prayer flower takes its name from the physical change it has undergone. With the setting of the sun and the coming of the night, the flower takes on an appearance resembling the hands of a praying person. The prayer flower, which looks like a work of art with its leaves as if drawn with a pencil, adds freshness to living spaces. Discovered by the Italian botanist, this plant has 20 accepted subspecies, all undergoing the same physical change.

How to Water?: It is very easy to care for, prayer flower needs a lot of moisture. For this reason, it is important to check the soil at regular intervals, to give an equal amount of water before it dries too much, and to moisten the leaves with spray. When the leaves lose their moisture, curls and brown stains begin.

How Should Light and Heat Be?: It is preferred as an indoor plant in Turkey due to regional climate differences. The ideal environment for the prayer flower that does not need direct sunlight is half sun and half shade areas. If it receives light from a single side, changing its orientation every few weeks will ensure that its leaves benefit from an equal amount of sunlight. For the prayer flower, which cannot withstand very cold weather, the ideal ambient temperature during the development period is 20-23 degrees. In places where the temperature drops below 5 degrees, drying begins on the leaves and body.

How to Change Pot and Soil?: The prayer flower likes warm and airy soil. Soil should be preferred in terms of abundant humus, vitamins and minerals. It is not right for the roots of the plant to prefer large pots due to their large and flashy leaves. Large but not very deep pots should be preferred and it is sufficient to change them every 2-3 years.
